Formalization of the collaboration between the Burundi Revenue Authority and the Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burundi.

CFCIBNovember 25, 2013

Having established the Joint Working Committee, the Burundi Revenue Authority (OBR) and the Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CFCIB) officially launched the activities of the commission Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the headquarters of the OBR.

It is the Commissioner General of the OBR and the President of the CFCIB who formalized activities by signing the agreement. This committee has a mandate to discuss issues raised by the private sector and the community of taxpayers and propose solutions to the tax authorities for the common welfare. It is a platform which can also think about ways to encourage tax compliance by taxpayers and even organize joint sessions for taxpayer education.

According to Mr. Econie NIJIMBERE, President of the CFCIB, this platform will improve business and help traders to pay taxes with justice and fairness.

This platform was long awaited by both parties given the urgency in effective taxpayer education after the adoption of new laws, themselves prepared jointly between the OBR and CFCIB.
